ELNIFER - coated electrode with iron-nickel alloy rod.
- Welding and repairing all types of cast iron.
- Welding cast iron with difficult-to-weld steels or cast steel products.
- Stable arc firing and easy slag removal.
- The weld metal exhibits excellent mechanical properties and high cracking resistance.
- The weld metal is easy to machine.
The electrode is used for cold-welding of structures in grey, ductile and malleable cast iron. It is used for repairs of cast iron castings, massive cast iron beds, bases and supports which are exposed to high dynamic loads and defects after machining cast iron products: shells, caverns, hollows etc.
When cold welding and repairing cast iron, the smallest electrode diameter is selected and the process is carried out at the lowest current in order to reduce heat input and the width of the heat affected zone. The temperature in between layers should not exceed +100 0C.
Welding is carried out in short passes with mandatory tapping of each weld bead with a hammer in hot state for removal of residual stresses.
When welding thick-walled cast iron products is recommended preheating to +150-300 0C and slow cooling after welding.
